Together with women from the Internationaler Bildungs- und Kulturverein für Frauen IBKF (International Education and Cultural Association for Women) I developed the fashion label VEST. In a collaborative process we designed and sewed individualized articles of clothing that narrate migration history for each respective designer/wearer. The frst collection consisted of one of a kind pieces that took up themes such as women´s biographies, gender issues and immigration in Germany. Together we opened a shop in the city centre where this collaborative designing and sewing process became visible to neighbours and local residents. The finished collection was presented in a catalogue and a website and modelled by all of us women on a cat walk.

During the second year of our collaboration we focused on fashion, recycling and personal memories. I a public call we asked local residents to bring used clothes and old fabrics and tell us about their memories of the specific items. In a collaborative recycling process we changed these items into new designed dresses. This second collection was performed and presented in a performative walk through the city.

After the project´s conclusion in 2014 the women from the women association decided to continue the project on their own. Until today they run the workhop and design new clothes taking pride in what they do and partly financing their lives with collaborating in this project.
